WHY YOGA FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN?

We hear all the time about the benefits of yoga. Doctors, fitness experts, and
celebrities are all supporters of yoga as part of a healthy lifestyle. There is no
disputing the benefits that one can receive from adding yoga to their life, but
what about the child with special needs. Are you a parent of a child with special
needs? Are you looking for a tool to help your child? Is yoga a reality for your
child with special needs? Yes, it is.

The benefits of yoga for the child with special needs are endless. There are the
emotional benefits seen in the self esteem that a child will gain with yoga. The
social connection made with the yoga teacher (you the parent or one of our
certified teachers) to help foster critical social skills. Then there is the physical
benefit you will see in your child. Many of our children suffer from gross and fine
motor delays, low tone, hyper tone, and sensory issues. Yoga can help establish
that key core strength that our children so desperately need to grow stronger
and more stable muscles. Let’s also not forget the benefits of teaching our
children how to have a calm mind and body. Many of our children suffer from
frenetic minds.  The breathing exercises and visualization techniques can help
our children learn to relieve stress, learn coping skills and build acceptance.

For many of you out there having a private yoga teacher for your child
seems like a fantasy. For many of you there is no yoga available to you in
your community; or maybe with all the medical expenses there isn’t anything
left over for private yoga. G.A.M.E. yoga can help you with all of your obstacles.
In the future it is our goal to provide online yoga instruction for FREE and we will
provide free yoga classes in select cities. Right now Jennifer is teaching free
yoga to children in Los Angeles & Santa Monica. In addition we will help provide
yoga materials to those who can’t afford them. If anyone wants to donate their
time to teach or has a space that can be used please let us know.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to the benefit that yoga can bring to
your special child. Remember our children are not DISABLED they are
DIFFERENTLY ABLED.
